The service

Hondana lets you record the manga and light novels you physically own: the edition, the volume range, the printing, whether you own the book, and whether you have read it. Barcode adds and manual adds are free. Cover-photo adds are capped by plan. The catalog of series and editions is shared. Your shelf is yours.

A match from a barcode is only as good as the catalog row. A match from a cover photo is a proposal. You confirm it before it is written. Do not treat either as a substitute for checking the book in your hand when the difference matters to you.

Accounts

You sign in with a code sent to your email, or with Apple where that button is shown. One person, one account. You are responsible for the mailbox the code goes to. We may refuse a signup, or close an account, that is used to abuse the catalog, the import tools, or other people.

You must be old enough to agree to these terms where you live. Hondana is not for children under 13. See the privacy policy for how age and personal data interact.

Your shelf and the catalog

You keep your notes and your collection. You give us permission to store them and to show the public parts if you turn the public shelf on. You can turn that off, export a CSV, or delete the account.

If you add a series, edition, or volume that was not in the catalog, you let Hondana keep that catalog row so the next person with the same ISBN does not have to create it. Do not submit data you do not have a right to submit. Book titles, cover images, and publisher names remain the property of their owners. Hondana does not claim them.

Acceptable use

Do not probe, scrape in a way that degrades the service, share an account, upload a cover you have no reason to be matching, or use the import tools against someone else's MyAnimeList account. Do not attempt to break sign-in limits by rotating addresses. We rate-limit sign-in codes for that reason.

Pro

Pro is $3 a month or $30 a year, in US dollars, when billing is turned on. Polar is the merchant of record and processes the payment. The extra you are paying for is a higher cover-photo cap: 50 scans a day, instead of 10 a month. Cancel in the customer portal. You keep Pro until the end of the period you already paid for. Fees already paid are not refunded except where the law where you live requires it.

Availability and liability

Hondana is provided as available. We will try to keep your shelf intact and exportable. We do not promise that the catalog is complete, that a scan is correct, or that the service will be uninterrupted.

To the extent the law allows, Hondana is not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for a lost book, a wrong edition, or a decision you made from a catalog row. Where a limit is allowed, liability for a claim about the service is limited to the amount you paid us in the three months before the claim, or fifty US dollars if you paid nothing. Nothing here limits liability that cannot legally be limited, including death or personal injury caused by negligence, or fraud.

Ending it

You can delete the account in Settings. We can suspend or close an account that breaks these terms. Closing an account removes the shelf as described in the privacy policy.

Law

These terms are governed by the laws of the operator's place of business. That place is available from the contact email. Consumer protection laws where you live still apply where they cannot be waived.
